Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) has sponsored “The Power of Camp Study” for the past several years collecting data from parents and their campers (over 7,500) nationwide from over 2,500 camps over 2 years.

This month we will look at the the findings (statistical) and the results, (a testimony), and the impact Canaan Acres Christian Camp has had on our youth as they matured into adults.

In the coming months we will share the importance of living out this month’s verse, Ecclesiastes 4:12.

Camp has a greater impact on our children’s lives far beyond the week they spend here. Everyone can play a part by contributing financially, sharing your talents, volunteering, and prayer support.

Your support is vital for the ministry to continue.

• 95% of parents reported, “It is clear camp had a positive impact on my child.”

• 85% of campers two-three months after camp reported, “The camp experience had a significant impact on my life.”

• 52% of parents reported, “their child is nicer to family members.

• 46% of parents reported, “their child is engaging them in conversations about God and faith more frequently.”

• 39% of parents reported, “their child is showing greater interest in attending church.

Church camp was everything that you would imagine it to be: Staying up late, playing messy games, church services and cabin time where we were loved on and told how Jesus loves us even more.

But the shocking and unforgettable part of camp was how God interacted with me personally as I learned more about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. Even more surprising was God used camp to call me to ministry, little twelve-year-old me.

Through the years, I continued as a camper, a volunteer, a counselor, a youth pastor and as a missionary in Brazil.

God still uses camp to speak to young hearts here and abroad. For me, God used camp to teach me my identity in Him and how to trust Him when the way seems unknown. I’ve seen God use camp to heal brokenness, teach love and forgiveness, and to provide a safe space. When our youth go to camp it’s not just an opportunity to have fun but it’s also an opportunity for them to begin a lifelong relationship with Him while they are young.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” 

March Fundraiser Highlights

• We had $2,100 pledged as a match

• Our total raised was $8397

• We had over 200 people attend

• 60 auction baskets to choose from

• Over 200 hours donated
